Haven't played for 2...3 years? - Guild Wars Forums

I just logged in to Guild Wars and found out a 5th anniversary gift Ophil Nahualli mini pet. What it is sad is that I couldn't figure that out right away, first I had to remember how to open the inventory. Yup, that bad it is... I forgot how to play.

Last time I play was when GW:EN was recently out, played a couple of days and since then, I log in a couple of minutes just to keep an eye on my characters, but right now I found out about "Hall of Monuments Rewards" calculator and I want to be part of it, because I have been waiting almost impatiently for GW2 to come out and I want to enjoy it as much as possible.

I am here to take any advice, how is the best way to start playing again. I had this idea to delete all characters and start from zero but that is a very wild idea.

How do you suggest me to recap on everything and try to start having fun again?

Pick one class and stick with it the entire time you are back. Invest NO time in alts whatsoever.

Lastly, take your time, don't rush. It's still going to be a while until gdub2 comes out.

Most players would advise against deleting any characters. You're going to need those birthday minis for your Hall of Monuments.

Spend a little time getting to know your existing characters again. Find one that you are comfortable with and take off. You've got plenty of time.

it really depends on what you accomplished with the existing characters, did they finish prophecies or factions or nightfall? did you get masters/bonuses on all the missions with them? do they already have elite armor? etc
If you have finished some things with them I would keep them for the HoM (you need 5 titles and just finishing one of the chapters will give you a 'title')...if they have elite armor you should put that up in the hall (if you have only part of the set, finish the set--top bottom, arms and legs--no need for helm).

but yeah, unless you really hate them, I would keep them and play around and if nothing else--yep mini pets!

I agree on the above posters, but.....
yeah try to do as they say, and don't delete chars for nothing, but when it comes to playing, if they don't suit your playstyle, and you have more fun playing a different class, and if you don't have room to make a new char... make a new one. HoM points are nice. But you should also enjoy yourself when getting the points imo.

Bear in mind that the Hall of Monuments achievements are account-wide -- so if you have a warrior who finished Prophecies and a ritualist who finished Factions, each of those characters can put those achievements in their hall for overall account credit. You don't have to use just one character to get all your points, though some titles make more sense to attain on a single character, such as Cartographer.

If you have a character who has finished Prophecies and/or Eye of the North, you'll want to get it started on War in Kryta so you can start saving up medals for Oppressor Weapons. You can dedicate these to your hall. And, again, you don't have to dedicate all weapon types on the same character. Your warrior can dedicate hammer/sword/axe, while your caster could dedicate a staff. It all counts towards a full monument.

Once a statue has been dedicated to the hall, you can delete the item, or even the character who dedicated it. The achievement will remain.

This is probably all covered in our Hall of Monuments Guide , which I urge you to read.

Once you understand how the Hall of monuments works, and what you need to do to acquire the points you desire, you can determine which of your existing characters will help with that and which you can let go if you need the extra character slot. Overall, existing characters will be more helpful in filling your hall than fresh ones. Secondaries can be changed. Makeover packs and name-changes can be purchased if need be. But it mainly comes down to what will give you the most joy.
